History

History

1919

Karl and Ernst Stockburger found their company on 15 September in a 5 x 20 metre corrugated iron barrack in Freiberg-Heutingsheim. The mechanical engineering company's first products for craftsmen and farmers are valve seat milling machines, band saws, agricultural equipment and cider presses.

1923

1923 Writing and drawing tools as well as metal-etched articles and clock cases expand the product range. The company already employs 15 people.

1925

The topic of crop protection is gaining in importance throughout Germany. MESTO begins to manufacture hand-operated sprayers. The technical developments of Ernst and Karl Stockburger are groundbreaking at a time when it was still common to distribute liquids with a hand brush.

1926

MESTO presents its innovative sprayers at the Leipzig trade fair. The first international business partnerships are established. In the following years, the products are optimised further and further. The product range expands rapidly.

1952

The company has arrived at its current location. The new building at Ludwigsburger Straße 71 meets the constantly growing customer demand and includes offices as well as production areas on two levels. In the following years, the company building is extended twice. Ilse Essig, Ernst Stockburger's daughter, joins the company.

1956

Erich Stockburger, Ernst Stockburger's son, joins the company.

1962

A production hall with 1700 square metres of space is built. This is the start of the modern, industrial production of MESTO sprayers. This significantly increases the profitability and efficiency of production.

1964

Günther Essig, Erich Stockburger's brother-in-law, joins the company as commercial manager. Erich Stockburger takes over the technical management.

1974

An assembly hall with 1000 square metres of space is built.

1984

The technology of plastic welding makes its way into MESTO.

2001

Bernd Stockburger, the grandson of the company founder, takes over the management.

2009

MESTO is the European leader in sales of high-pressure metal sprayers for the construction industry.

2012

Another production hall with 2000 square metres of space is being built on the company premises.

2019

The next 100 years of MESTO begin. Today, the powerful MESTO sprayers are available for countless different applications.

In Europe and many overseas markets, the innovative MESTO technologies are used wherever liquids have to be distributed economically. Several world-renowned companies distribute MESTO sprayers under their own label.

The construction industry, building trade, cleaning trade, agriculture, horticulture and even the railways use the well thought-out, user-friendly products, which are still consistently designed and manufactured at the Freiberg site - just a few hundred metres from the site where the company founders' corrugated iron shack stood 100 years ago.
